HP Photosmart how to scan from Windows Vista?

Consult merely by Peter N: How to scan in Windows Vista on Hp photosmart?

I have Hp photosmart printer and Iam not able to scan because there is a scan button on the printer but after pushing it nothing happens. I used to have my older pc with Windows xp and the same thing was happening but I managed to scan when I found “printers and scanners” in XP and there was this option to scan. But now as I have Vista I also found “printers and scanners” but there is no such option to scan. Any advice?

You should check in your device manager to see what drivers you have for your scanner/printer. If you only have a generic one, sometimes this prevents you from utilizing all of the available features. Go to the HP website and input your printer/scanner model number under the help and support section then look for available drivers and download the latest drivers.
